Corrupt system fleeces child-health programme

Gurdeep Singh Chadha alias Ponty is the proud owner of multiple cars, houses, mansions and a business empire worth Rs 6,000 crore.

His company Great Value Foods has been supplying ready-to-eat food for the impoverished and malnourished women and children of Uttar Pradesh.

Great Value Foods -- under a government worth hundreds of crores -- supplies food to the eight million women and 30 million children dependent on the Integrated Child Development Scheme.

To nobody's surprise, there are severe irregularities in this arrangement. Everyone other than the dirt-poor and the underfed populace of India seem to be making a profit from it.
