Investigations have been started into the alleged Bollywood-bookies nexus after it was revealed that a small-time film producer was working as a second-in-command to top bookie Sunil Dubai, Mumbai police has said.

On Thursday, police had arrested six bookies, including two top bookies -- Sonu Malad alias Batiya and Deven Kothari alias Bhaiji -- on the charge of betting on cricket matches.

Interrogation of Sonu revealed that he used to receive orders from one Prakash Chandnani, who was a co-producer of a Bollywood movie and worked directly under bookie Sunil Abhuchandani alias Dubai who operated from Dubai, police said.

"Sonu and another bookie Ashish would directly call up Chandnani to receive orders about betting. Sonu also revealed during interrogation that Chandnani was co-producer of a Bollywood movie Galli Galli Chor Hai which highlighted the issue of corruption in the backdrop of Anna Hazare's movement", police said.
