Incidentally, the Rs 7.50 hike in petrol prices, is the steepest ever. At Rs 70.66 per litre (current prices), petrol prices in Mumbai is the highest and of course, Delhi, at Rs 65.64, is the cheapest.

The petrol prices were hiked after the record low of the Rupee, which fell to Rs 56 to a dollar today.
