Shah Rukh Khan is an intelligent guy. His press conferences are fun. He cracks jokes, makes people laugh and can generally charm his way out of trouble. That's the kind of guy he is. But then again, the actor's scuffle with Mumbai Cricket Association officials post the IPL game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians paints a very different picture; a picture of a man who believes that as an egoistic owner of anIPL team, he can get away with anything on the cricket ground.
The NCP today virtually disowned attempts by its party leader P A Sangma to enter the Presidential race even as BJD and AIADMK announced their
support to his candidature.
"I am not aware of any such development. Sangma has not spoken to us. We have had no discussions. We feel that with such a limited strength, we cannot aspire for such a major post," party chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said.
Pawar's party is a key ally of the Congress-led UPA at the Centre since May 2004 and the two parties are also sharing power in Maharashtra since 1999. He had sometime back met Congress President Sonia Gandhi who has been holding consultations with UPA constituents and allies over the Presidential election.
MCA hits back after Shah Rukh Khan's press conference, saying he is tring to gain sympathy by using his children's name. MCA treasurer, Ravi Savani says it is up to the police if they want to convert the NCO to an FIR. "The way he behaved and the way he abused, I will definitely push for a lifetime ban," says Sawani.
A non-cognizable offence has been filed against Shah Rukh Khan over the brawl in the MCA last night. Under an NCO, the police can neither register an FIR, investigate, nor effect an arrest without the permission or directions from the court.

The achievements of the Mamata Banerjee Government in West Bengal today came in for question with key ally Congress asking it to "talk less and work more", saying it was not known as to which of the promises had been implemented by it so far.
"Till now, we don't know which project has been converted into ground reality because things are at promise and announcement level only. A large number of farmers have been committing suicide in West Bengal and unemployment is also on the rise. I want to say that they should talk less and work more," Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said.
Air India may be struggling to stay afloat but the cash-strapped airline has been bled dry by scores of employees found to have indulged in financial and
other irregularities causing loss to the state-owned carrier.
The vigilance cases ranged from stealing liquor and caviar and flying for other airlines while on the rolls of the national carrier to inflated bills and making claims for bogus attendance. Irregularities in overtime and conveyance allowances also surfaced during investigations.
The national carrier's vigilance department, which probes financial and other irregularities, has initiated action and investigations into 161 such cases in last three years.

PA Sangma says he is grateful to the BJD and the AIADMK for their support to his candidature for president. He says the president should be a tribal leader and appealed to other parties to follow suit. He said Pranab Mukherjee, whose name is also in the running, is a highly qualified for the post, but he was not a tribal and the president should be tribal.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad said, "It is one-sided version. Shah Rukh's version should also be heard before making comment on the issue. He is a good actor."
JD (S) MP Vijay Mallya, who is also the owner of IPL team Royal Challengers said, "It is not correct for me to comment. I have seen the TV channel reports. I also heard Rajiv Shukla on the issue. He said that facts have to be investigated. So it would be unfair for me to comment. I know Shah Rukh very well and he is very passionate and enthusiastic about his team.I have always found him to be exceptionally well behaved."
BSP MP Vijay Bahadur Singh said "Shah Rukh is part of the IPL so why he was stopped at the gate. If he violated any rule then there is a way to deal with
the situation." "What was his fault? Was he a terrorist," Singh asked, adding, "If he had gone inside the stadium along with some children then what was wrong with it."
Former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad today came to the aid of actor Shah Rukh Khan on the Wankhede stadium incident saying the whole episode is a ploy to divert attention from the spot fixing scandal.
"I think basically this is a ploy to divert the issue of spot fixing that has put the board (BCCI) and IPL into a big question mark. I do not believe that Shah Rukh will be so irresponsible to come drunk that also along with seven children after the match," he told reporters outside Parliament.
IPL team co-owner Shah Rukh got into a alleged scuffle with guards and MCA officials at the stadium yesterday when he was trying to enter the ground along with some children.
The MCA officials have lodged a police complaint against Khan for his alleged misbehaviour at the stadium and decided to ban him for life from entering the premises.
"Has the police done a medical check-up? Do you think with cameras all around a person of his stature will do such thing," Azad asked. Blaming MCI for the whole episode, he said, "MCI is at fault for the fracas."
Ravindra Patil: SRK has now become arrogant, and his ownership from IPL must be withdrawn.

MCA Secretary Nitin Dalal says Shah Rukh Khan abused and manhandled security guards when told to leave the stadium.
SRK says MCA officials, guards, manhandled the children.
Shah Rukh says he will file a written complaint. Here's a correction, SRK says 30 people charged at him, not 40, as reported earlier.
SRK says his behaviour was completely correct and he would behave in the same way again.
Shah Rukh says, "I will stand my ground, to stand there and let them know they cannot manhandle the kids. I was not on the pitch. I know on the rules. I was there with 30 kids. I was responsible for them.
Once this security guard abused me, yes, I abused them. The guards should apologise to me."
"KKR is the team with most sportsman spirit. Whether we win or lose, we always congratulate the other team. It's very easy to take on a celebrity and say whatever you want to. They should look at themselves and think how they would behave. I just went to pick up my children on the field. People were rushing at me. About 40 people rushed at us. The MCA officials were abrasive, rude; I cannot repeat the things they said," points out Shah Rukh.
Shah Rukh says the organisers should apologise. "I have no clarification to give, he tells reporters. "They (MCA) cannot, every time, under the guise of self-imposed security rules, manhandle children. You cannot physically manhandle kids. I had gone there to pick up my kids."
A reporter asks him whether he will apologise: SRK replies, "Why should I apologise to them, they should apologise them. I have a huge sportsman spirit, to be abusive to fans is not me."
"The guards should apologise to me. MCA officials were abrasive."
On the Wankhede ban: I am not worried about the ban, I really don't care. It makes no difference to my life.
Shah Rukh Khan addresses a press conference on the fracas at Wankhede stadium last night.
SRK says he was being bullied and the MCA officials were manhandling the children. He says he was NOT drunk. "They were extremely high-handed and they should apologise to me for their behaviour," says SRK.
"If this is the kind of behaviour meted out to people who go to the stadium, I would not like to go there myself. I am extremely upset and disturbed that they manhandled children. It is completely unpardonable," he says.

Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa today described Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee as the "Chanakya" of the UPA government and "PM" while fumbling for the right word in the Lok Sabha, drawing peals of laughter from members, including Sonia Gandhi.
While replying to a question on the need for more funds and resources for on-going projects of the railways, he said, "Some states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Jharkhand have come forward to share 50 per cent of the cost. There is a fund crunch. But our Pranabda, who is Chanakya of

However, he fumbled in the process much to the amusement of the members.

A report on SRK's friend Nita Ambani.
Billionaire Indian industrialist Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita describes their 27-storey Mumbai house Antilia as a "modern home with an Indian heart" and the
"only home we have in the world." The ultra-luxurious 400,000 sq feet Ambani mansion and its contents continue to fascinate people not only in India but also abroad.
Vanity Fair, which interviewed Nita last November, will publish a few pictures from inside Antilia in its June edition, giving a sneak peak into what has been
described as 'The Taj Mahal meets flash Gordon." "The closed door policy has only piqued the worldwide fascination that has surrounded the edifice," the magazine said of Antilia.
Contrary to speculation that the Ambanis had not moved into their home as it did not conform to the ancient Indian architectural doctrine of 'vastu shastra', Nita told Vanity Fair that they had moved into the house around September last year and some of the media reports about their house were "exaggerated."
What irked Shah Rukh was that MCA officials switched off the flood lights. Sheikh, who is also member of the MCA managing committee, was present at the ground on match duty and had to rush to prevent the situation from turning ugly.
"I took him out and separated him because the incident was turning ugly. While being taken away he was showering abuses on MCA and BCCI officials. We are investigating the matter," said Sheikh.

On Friday, Facebook will finally become a public company. The hotly anticipated initial public offering (IPO) will be the largest tech company share sale ever and is expected to value the social network at over $100bn -- more than the combined value of Nike and Goldman Sachs.
The sale will likely generate billions, but hidden just beneath the buzz are signs that not all is well for Silicon Valley's star.
Facebook's blockbuster initial public offering this week, which could be worth $12.8 billion at the top of the range, is expected to be the largest Internet IPO ever, surpassing Google's 2004 IPO of less than $2 billion.
Reflecting the intense interest in the IPO, Facebook increased the range on its offering Monday to $34 to $38 per share. After theIPO, Facebook will be flush with cash. Once the frenzy on the IPO subsides, Facebook will get back to the work of building the company and hacking away in line with Mark Zuckerberg's ethos.

Pranab Mukheree's telling comment in Parliament yesterday: I may be a Bengali, but I'm not Bengal's finance minister. I can't favour Bengal over other states.
On cue, the Trinamool Congress is upset with the Finance Minister over this comment on Bengal seeking debt relief. "I represent West Bengal. I have a responsibility for the state but as the federal minister I cannot overlook the other states. We have to overcome the crisis collectively," Pranab had said on Wednesday.
Trinamool Congress leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said, "It is wrong on the part of the Congress to comment on us. Look at the way they manage the situation. It's been over 34 years of misrule in Bengal and Pranab may say that interest waiver difficult, but we can manage."
In July, rural development minister Jairam Ramesh had put out a draft of a new land acquisition bill that focused on social inclusiveness. The bill was cleared by the Cabinet in September and was tabled in Parliament during the monsoon session. There, it will be vetted by the different political parties before it is voted on. The Standing Committee report on the Land Acquisition Bill tabled now, is on the basis of the September draft.
The report suggets tough norms that would make it very difficult to acquire land for industry. Land acquistion will now be possible only for welfare projects.
The Standing Committee report on the Land Bill has been tabled in Parliament. A parliamentary panel on Tuesday had proposed tougher norms for acquiring land for industrial use, as it finalised the new Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development, has now tabled the report in the House and proposed a more stringent definition of 'public purpose' to ensure that the government does not acquire land for private businesses.
According to the report, the government should not acquire any land for infrastructure and projects executed under public-private partnerships.
Yesterday, UPA constituent Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal, which has been demanding a special package, did not get any assurance from Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee who said he could not give preferential treatment to the state even though he himself belongs to it.

Replying to a debate on the Finance Bill in the Rajya Sabha, Mukherjee said, "I shall have to keep in mind that I represent West Bengal. Naturally, I will have an obligation to them. But as federal Finance Minister, I have equal responsibility for all 28 states."

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee completes a year in office on May 20 saddled with a debt burden of over Rs two lakh crore, a not too happy

Banerjee, who coined the 'Ma, Mati Manush' (mother, land, people) to oust the Marxists from the state, said. "I want my partymen to emulate my example."
The first task that Banerjee had to grapple with was the inheritance of a debt of more than Rs two lakh crore from the erstwhile Left Front government which her Trinamool Congress routed after over three decades.

"We have lodged a complaint against him at the Marine Drive Police station (for his alleged misbehaviour against MCA officials)," informed MCA secretary Nitin Dalal. The Bollywood star had an altercation with the security and officials of the association after the Knight Riders had swamped Mumbai Indians, according to MCA treasurer Ravi Savant.
"He misbehaved and abused the MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including our president Vilasrao Deshmukh, after the IPL match (between KKR and Mumbai Indians). We have decided to ban him for life from entering the stadium in future," said Savant, who alleged that the actor was in a totally inebriated state.
The blow-by-blow account of what happened at Wankhede last night. On NDTV.com.
Missing most of the game, Shah Rukh Khan entered Wankhede Stadium close to midnight along with his entourage that included several children wearing KKR shirts.
Elated by the KKR's late recovery and the unexpected one-sided 32 run win over hosts Mumbai Indians, despite compiling a modest score, Shah Rukh headed towards the dressing room to meet his players.
While Shah Rukh was meeting Gautam Gambhir and Co inside the dressing room the group that had accompanied him to the stadium waited on the field, just outside the boundary line.
According the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials, the trouble started when a few children wanted to cross the boundary line and play 'catch'. They were stopped by a watchman at the ground.
It is alleged, that when Shah Rukh came to know about this he left the dressing room in a huff and confronted the watchman.
MCA officials say that he was abusive to the him and asked the guard who gave him the permission to stop the children from entering the field.
As voices were raised, a few MCA officials who were in the stands near the dressing room walked down to quell the commotion.
When Shah Rukh was told that he couldn't have his way, he reportedly said, "I am the owner of the team, how can you stop me."
Tempers flared at this point as Shah Rukhs comments didnt go well with the MCA officials.
With Shah Rukh losing his cool and reportedly abusing the officials, several members of the KKR support staff rushed to the spot to quell the co-owner.
Players of the two team also came to know about the post-match fight and were seen peering at the chaos from the dressing room.
KKR all-rounder Yusuf Pathan tried to mediate but he was asked to return to the dressing room.
The Indian Premier League CEO Sundar Raman was also seen pacifying Shah Rukh.
MCA officials allege that Shah Rukh even pushed a police man who tried to intervene.
Eventually, the entry of a senior Mumbai Police official, who is also part of the MCA, ended the almost hour long shouting session.
In January this year, Shah Rukh Khan had punched and slapped Farah Khan's filmmaker husband Shirish Kunder at a private party thrown by Sanjay Dutt.
The fracas took place late last night at the Agneepath success party at a nightclub where Shah Rukh is said to have roughed up Kunder, who has been taking potshots at the actor and his mega budget film Ra.One on Twitter.
The Jaan-E-Mann director reportedly left the party with a swollen face. The party also came to an end and Dutt and SRK left with the owner of the nightclub soon after.
So, SRK is back in the news for an alleged scuffle at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The incident took place when Shah Rukh, who was not at the stadium during the match, arrived at Wankhede after the post-match presentation ceremony with several children.
Sources said he flew into a rage and got into a scuffle with security guards posted there. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials said Shah Rukh lost his cool when he was denied entry with his entourage.
MCA joint secretary Nitin Dalal said the actor pushed security guards and also abused some BCCI and MCA officials. Sources close to the Team Kolkata camp said Shah Rukh felt offended when one of the security personnel spoke rudely to him. Shah Rukh has refused to comment on the incident.
