A police officer was gunned down by Maoists in the naxal-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh where a contractor was also shot at by suspected Naxals. An assistant Sub-Inspector Dilip Kumar Sinha, posted at Bande police station, was returning to his duty from Bande village on motorcycle last night when some armed naxalites started firing at him following which he collapsed. By the time police teams rushed to the spot, the Naxals managed to escape.
