Kalyan Banerjee asked the Finance Minister to "reconsider" the demand of the West Bengal government for a moratorium. "You are smiling. We will smile if you reconsider our demand ... give us a chance to smile," he said looking at Mukherjee. Noting that governments should not "run after industrialists" as people run the country and not them, he said the land acquisition laws should favour agriculture. He wondered why formulating laws relating to land acquisition was taking such a long time.
