Rabindranath Tagore's home to be a museum

The West Bengal government is planning to convert the Jorasanko Thakurbari, the ancestral house of Rabindranath Tagore in north Kolkata, into a museum. While kicking off the bard's week-long 151st birth anniversary celebrations in Kolkata on May 1, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said they were mulling over how to convert the mansion, where Tagore was born and spent most of his childhood, into a museum. "This (Tagore's house) should be converted into a museum to preserve our cultural heritage for the coming generations," Mamata said.
