Sena wants Bharat Ratna for Dadasaheb Phalke

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut today moved the Rajya Sabha for the Bharat Ratna to be posthumously awarded to Dadasaheb Phalke, on the occasion of 100 years of Indian cinema.

Raising the matter during zero hour, he also demanded that a postal stamp be issued to commemorate the centenarary of Indian cinema.

"Phalke is credited with making 95 movies and 26 short films in his 19-year career and it is now time to honour this great doyen of the film industry, who has been conveniently forgotten," Raut said.
