SC upholds death for Bangalore serial killer

Just in: Bangalore serial Umesh Reddy's mercy petition over the death penalty awarded to him has been rejected. The Supreme Court observed that Reddy was an ex-policeman, who had become a habitual pervert and violent offender, who not only commits robbery but also to satisfy his lust, attacks helpless women and commits rape and, in murdered Jayashree brutally after having violent sexual intercourse with her.

Umesh Reddy was convicted by a High Court division bench on October 4, 2007, for the rape and murder of one Jayashree Maradi Subbaiah, a widow, on February 28, 1998.
