Italy has no rights to go to top court on fishermen killing, said the Centre.

The Italian government had on April 20 approached the Supreme Court seeking the release of its two navy personnel who were arrested by the Kerala police for the killing of two Indian fishermen.

The period of remand in judicial custody of the two Italian Marines has been extended till May 11. They are presently lodged at a cell in the Central Prison in Thiruvananthapuram.

MV Enrica Lexie, the Italian oil tanker involved in the killing of two Indian fishermen on February 15, left the Kochi coast late Saturday night with Supreme Courts permission.
