AK Antony tells Parliament: Army is battle-ready

Right now in Parliament, defence minister AK Antony is being hauled over the coals on the Tatra truck deal. In his defence, Antony says the government makes procurements according to the needs of the Army.  

He says no purchases were made after 2008 and the 6,500 trucks it bought were always purchased on the requirement of the army. The government has not imposed it on the defence forces.

Antony also said the armed forces are ready to meet any challenge  and in effect, is battle ready.
