'No proposal to raise Tribal Battalion now'

While on the Sukma DC's release, Jitendra Singh, Minister of State of Home Affairs in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today said that there was no proposal to raise a Tribal Battalion for Naxal Affected Areas for Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected States.

However, the recruitment of constables (General Duty) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) is being done through the Staff Selection Commission, wherein 20 per cent vacancies in Border Guarding Forces and 40 per cent vacancies in forces other than Border Guarding Forces are allotted to militancy affected areas, including LWE affected areas.
