India takes centrestage as BRICS begins in Delhi

Rediff.com's Sheela Bhatt who is at the Brics plenary session at the Taj Palace, Delhi, says such high-profile summits are generally security centric. Some 200 journalists are in place as India assumes chairmanship. The leaders of BRICS have arrived, as PM Dr Manmohan Singh addresses the assemblage. The PM says the global picture gives mixed feelings and the energy situation is volatile.
