March 27, 2012  11:10

The hunger strike at Idinthakarai has entered its ninth day. Of the 15 people on fast, two women have been hospitalised. Rediff.com's Ganesh Nadar reporting from Idinthakarai said that the strike was earlier against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, but now the agitators have only two demands -- release jailed protestors and withdraw all cases against them.

The agitators have been charged with waging war against the state. The Tirunelveli collector Selvaraj is expected to come to Parameshwar for talks with a team comprising seven representatives from seven villages, 12 km from Idhinthakarai.
