Chandigarh court to decide Rajoana's fate

A Chandigarh court will today decide the fate of Balwant Singh Rajoana, a convict in the assassination of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh.

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Chandigarh, Shalini Nagpal had earlier issued a warrant of death sentence against the Babbar Khalsa terrorist.

A special CBI court had awarded death sentence to Rajoana and Jagtar Singh Hawara in the Beant Singh case on August 1, 2007.

Superintendent of Patiala jail L S Jhakhar had filed a petition in a local court in Chandigarh, seeking deferring of the death warrant of Rajoana.
