Norway custody row: India may back off over couples' rift
March 21, 2012  11:19

Update on the Norway custody battle. India may now back off from the case if it is established that there is a family dispute.

The feud between the parents Anurup and Sagarika Bhattacharya, which had remained largely under wraps until yesterday, worsened, with Bhattacharya saying he would be applying for a legal separation.

Two Indian diplomats who left New Delhi for Norway to try and resolve the issue of transfer of custody of the children from the Norwegian Child Welfare Service that is due to come up before a court on March 23, say the Indian ambassador may speak to the couple.

Sagarika, however denied the allegations, vowing to fight for the kids' custody. Her mother, yesterday, said talks of a separation between the couple were false and they were very much together.
