Smiling Mayawati resigns as UP CM

Mayawati has resigned as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

TV channels showed the smiling Bahujan Samaj Party chief handing over her resignation to Governor B L Joshi at the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow.

The two were seen exchanging pleasantries and having a short conversation.

This is the outgoing CM's first public appearance since the BSP's defeat in the UP assembly polls on Tuesday.
