Mamata: This is a presidential poll not a municpal poll

Mamata said she if someone threatens her, she would tackle it. "We have not broken traditions or decorum. I and Mulayam Singh Yadav suggested two names. Please remember this is a Presidential poll and not a municipal election. Both are different in stature.

"We want a person who is best suited to the position. Who is capable. We gave three names because there was no consensus. One of those names will be the face of India. Had there been a direct election all of India would have supported APJ Abdul Kalam. We gave a clarion call that all political parties should support Kalam.

"Kalam was not a NDA candidate. The NDA endorsed him later. I suggested the name first," said Mamata.
