CBI to probe coal scam after CVC order

The Central Bureau of Investigation has decided to hold a preliminary probe into the controversial coal block allocations. 

The move could pose troubles for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the his office was the incharge of the coal ministry between the probe period of 2006 and 2009.

The CBI will be acting on an order by the Central Vigilance Commission. 

Sources say the CBI will initially register a preliminary enquiry into the case. 

The agency will complete the preliminary enquiry by mid August, according to sources.
