Even as Assam CM Tarun Gogoi said the situation in the state was still tense, Railway Minister Mukul Roy today sought deployment of adequate forces in the affected areas to ensure safety of passengers and trains.

Roy drew the attention of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Tarun Gogoi to the tense situation and requested assistance for safe and smooth movement of trains in the state.

"The Railway Minister spoke to Chidambaram and Gogoi and apprised them of the difficulties being faced by the Railways in ensuring safe and smooth movement of trains to and from Assam," said a close aide of Roy.
