Amartya Sen: Bengali angle for Prez unimportant

When Rediff.com's Indrani Roy asked Professor Amartya Sen in Kolkata on Tuesday evening what he thought of a Bengali adorning the Presidency, this is what the Nobel Laureate said: "Bengalis are now adorning so many illustrious posts across the globe and, therefore, I don't think too much importance should be given to the Bengali angle. The post of the Indian President is the most prestigious one and one should hold it in high esteem. I offer my respect to whoever adorns this Chair."
