9-year-old killed in celebratory firing in UP

A nine-year-old boy was killed in a celebratory firing in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, allegedly by the supporter of a newly elected civic body chairman.

The police say the shooter has been arrested and a double barrel gun has been recovered from him.

Six policemen have also been suspended.

This came even as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had warned people against celebratory firing.
