Pawar steps down as telecom EGoM head

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh offering to step down as the head of the Empowered Group of Ministers on Telecom.

Pawar said he quit to avoid getting dragged into controversy. "PM has agreed to relieve me as telecom EGoM head," said Pawar.

He also said that the allegations against him were ill-motivated.
