Home Secretary RK Singh denies allegations that the 19 people killed by CRPF men in Chhattisgarh were encounter deaths of innocent people. Singh says there will be no probe in the matter. Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh defends the CRPF saying that if villagers are killed, Naxals will be blamed and says the Congress is politicising the deaths. The CPM have demanded a probe in the matter.

The killing of 19 persons alleged to be Maoists in Sarkeguda in Chhattisgarh on June 29 in a major operation by the Central Reserve Police Force has sparked off a major controversy, with villagers crying foul and calling the entire operation fake, in which innocents were killed.
