Parliamentary Affairs minister PK Bansal says Pranab Mukherjee resigned as Chairman, Indian Statistical Institute, well before he filed his nomination asPresidential candidate and the post was an honorary one. The BJP and PA Sangma have challenged the nomination of former finance minister Pranab Mukherjee for office of the President of India as he is the chairman of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, and therefore can be debarred under the office of profit clause.
