Sensex down by 152 pts in opening trade, Nifty down too

The BSE benchmark Sensex was down by 152 points in early trade today, its six-session winning streak snapped by fresh selling in capital goods, power and banking stocks amid a weakening trend in Asia. 

The 30-share Sensex resumed lower at 17,138.04 and declined further to 17,054.99 before quoting at 17,082.39 at 1015 hours, a net loss of 151.59 points, or 0.88 per cent, from last weekend's close. 

 The NSE's 50-share Nifty also fell by 48.40 points, or 0.93 per cent, to 5,156.30 at 1015 hours.
