Yemen prez allowed to go to US for medical treatment

Yemen's embattled President Ali Abdullah Saleh is flying to New York by mid-week for medical treatment after the US administration allowed him entry to the country.

"Ali Abdullah Saleh's request to travel to the US for medical treatment has been approved," the US state department said in a statement, a day after he asked his people for forgiveness in a farewell speech.
