More on the crisis in Pakistan.

Our neighbour is abuzz with rumours that the all-powerful military may topple the fragile government in Islamabad within the next 48 hours.

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani accused army chief General Ashfaq Kayani and Inter Services Intelligence chief Lieutenant General Shuja Pasha of violating the constitution.

Then yesterday, he dismissed the defence secretary, a retired lieutenant general -- amid speculation that the prime minister's next target may be the army and ISI chiefs.
