A Chinese man has grown the world's most expensive tea using panda excretion.

An Yanshi bought 11 tons of excrement from a panda breeding centre in Sichuan province and used it to grow tea leaves costing 22,000 pounds per pound.

The 41-year-old entrepreneur has revealed that panda poo is the key ingredient to a new luxury brew.

So far there have been no takers for the unusual product that comes accompanied by a special panda-shaped tea set and two wildlife paintings.

His method remains a closely guarded secret, but he promises drinkers they can expect 'a mature and nutty taste'.

The tea is also being heralded for its health properties as the excrement is enriched with nutrients from bamboo, which is a major food source for the bear.
