Releasing the first-ever child malnutrition report, PM Manmohan Singh today said the problem of malnutrition in the country is a matter of national shame, despite the impressive growth in our GDP. The level of under-nutrition is unacceptably high. A report says that India has the highest number of stunted children in the world.
The PM announces a multi-sectoral programme in districts across India.
The report says that every third malnourished child is from India.
