Full bench of EC to meet over violations of poll code

Update on EC notice to Salman Khurshid (see our 15:03 post). A full bench of the Election Commission is meeting this evening to issue a strict warning to political parties not to make such statements when the election campaign gainsmomentum.

Khurshid courted controversy yesterday, when he promised that the Congress party would provide a nine per cent sub-quota for backward Muslims if the party was voted to power in the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
