Glenn McGrath and his DIRE prediction for India
January 05, 2012  14:34

When Australia great Glenn McGrath predicted that India would lose 0-4 to Australia in the ongoing four Test match series, not a ball had been bowled in the second match at Sydney Cricket Ground, considered India's favourite hunting ground.

Ha, India have always been late starters overseas, how can this vaunted batting lineup lose so, was the consensus among Indian cricket lovers.

Now with three days of play over and India all set to go down 0-2 in the series on Friday, the fourth day of play, Pigeon's words seem prophetic.

Just like then BCCI secretary Jayant Lele's words did when he told rediff.com's Faisal Shariff in 1999 that India, under Sachin Tendulkar's captaincy, will be blanked out 0-3 in the forthcoming tour Down Under.

Lele, of course, went on to deny that interview and even sued us for Rs 5 crore (to no avail, let us add).

Those interested, can read Faisal's interview with Lele here. With the help of hindsight we know that Lele got it right. With two more Test matches to go, will Dhoni and Co belie McGrath's forecast?

Don't hold your breath.
