2000 fatal road accidents in Delhi, but LOWEST in 7 years!

Over 2,000 people were killed in road accidents in New Delhi last year, but the police today claimed that it's the lowest number of fatal accidents in the past seven years. 

According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyendra Garg, the year 2011 registered the lowest number of fatal accident and number of those killed in such incidents since 2005. "The capital has witnessed creditable decline in fatal accidents for second consecutive year. Accidents came down from 2,104 in 2010 to 2,007 last year. This is over the decline registered in 2010 when accidents came down compared to 2272 in 2009," Garg said. 

Number of persons killed came down to 2066 in 2011 compared to 2153 in 2010, he said.
