Finally, govt focusses on health; outlay upped to 2.5% of GDP

A meeting was held in the PMO on the government's priorities in the health sector, particularly over the next five years. The meeting decided that we must work towards increasing the total government health expenditure to 2.5% of GDP by the end of the Twelfth Plan: currently it is around 1.4%. 

The health ministry is also looking at a plan for cashless treatment, free medicines for all under NHRM. The cabinet clears the procurement of drugs in bulk.
