HC: File FIR against Kripashankar, attach assets
February 22, 2012  15:57

Rediff.com's Toral Varia reports that the Bombay High Court has directed the police to register an FIR against Mumbai Congress president Kripashankar Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The HC has also directed that his immovable properties be attached and has sought a sanction from the government for his prosecution.

The case is being heard on the basis of a PIL filed by activist Sanjay Tiwari, who alleged that the Congress MLA had amassed wealth disproportionate to his disclosed sources of income. The court was told that Singh, a former minister of state, had close ties with Jharkhand's tainted ex-CM Madhu Koda, booked in a Rs 4,000 crore money laundering scam in 2009.
