A day after the BCCI's Working Committee rejected some of the demands of Sahara.

In a notable development, former board president Shashank Manohar was also included in the parleys. Board president N Srinivasan was present at the meeting. Manohar was the president of BCCI when Sahara Group bought the Pune franchise for whopping Rs 1700 crore, the costliest franchise in the IPL.

Heads up all Amitabh Bachchan fans (In other words much of India's 1.2 billion)

A day after assuring fans that all is well with him post his abdominal surgery, Amitabh Bachchan has said he is now facing "fresh medical issues".

The 69-year-old megastar, who has been updating his fans on his hospital stay, today posted a brief entry on his blog saying that he won't be detailing on his medical condition further.

"I seek forgiveness... I will not be detailing any more... Some fresh medical issues have come up, and I need to concentrate on the treatment now," he wrote last night.

Bachchan was operated on at the Seven Hills hospital (same hospital where Ash-Abhi's daughter was born) Saturday, after which he had tweeted that he was in pain.

His tweet yesterday indicated that he was on his way to recovery, but it seems that Bachchan will have to spend some more time at the hospital.

Bachchan has been battling a string of stomach ailments since his near fatal intestinal injury while filming a fight scene in 1982 movie "Coolie".  His latest condition is also a result of the same accident.

17:09   Rahul may jump off the stage in anger: Akhilesh

Rahul Gandhi's dramatic act of tearing up a paper with a list of election promises of political opponents at a poll rally drew a sarcastic reaction today with Samajwadi party saying he may now jump from the stage to vent his anger.
Rahul's sister Priyanka Gandhi played down the incident, observing that he just tore a paper and not any party's manifesto.

Congress leader Digvijay Singh refused to comment on Yadav advising Rahul to learn courtesy. "Rahul seems angry. Earlier he used to get angry by folding hands, then he got angry by tearing up paper. Who knows, next time he might jump off the stage in anger," SP's Akhilesh Yadav said talking to reporters after addressing an election rally at Tiloi in Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

38-year-old Akhilesh, son of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, also advised Rahul, who is three years older to him, to control his anger. "He should control his  anger..It's not good for his health," he said.

Last month, UK politician David Lammy shocked many by blaming last summer's UK riots on an anti-smacking law, which he said leaves parents "no longer sovereign in their own homes". Lammy -- the MP for the riot-hit Tottenham area -- later backtracked by saying the riots could not be blamed on smacking alone, but maintained that working-class parents should be able to physically discipline their children to prevent them from joining gangs.

Security has been ramped up at Israeli diplomatic missions in the US in the wake of recent attacks on Israeli officials in New Delhi and Georgia, a former senior counterterrorism official has said.

The ex-counterterrorism official, who worked closely with Israeli military and security services, said the increased security includes embassies as well as personnel, after Israel's diplomatic employees were targeted at least twice in the last week overseas. Israel is also taking steps internally.

The ramping up of security came as the FBI and Homeland Security Department recently said in a jointly issued bulletin that the US government has no information suggesting Iran or its surrogates are targeting Jewish community in America.

14:59   Priyanka: People bored of poll promises; want real work

To a question on Samajwadi Party president Mulayam SinghYadav first saying that he could extend support to the Congress to stop the BJP from coming to power in UP and later withdrawing it, Priyanka remarked only "he should know why he went back (on his statement)".

13:56   Osama's family petitions Pak SC for release of youngest wife

The family of Osama bin Laden's youngest wife, shot in the knees in the daring raid by US navy SEALS, has petitioned Pakistan's Chief Justice seeking release and that of her children from Pakistani authorities.

The petition on behalf of Laden's Yemeni wife Amal Ahmede al-Sadah was moved by her brother citing that his sister's five children were in poor mental health and receiving no education, the Guardian reported.

The brother told the court that Amal could not walk as her leg wound was not treated properly. Laden's wife was shot after apparently trying to shield him during the US raid on their Abottabad hideout.

The paper said the entire Osama family found in the house have been in Pakistani custody, at a secret location since the May 2 raid last year.

"Osama bin Laden's family who passed upon their illegal disappearance in Pakistan more than eight months with Pakistani authority despite their innocence. Their detention is against all human rights and laws in the world", the
petition written in broken English said.

13:29   MEA: How can 2 fishermen in tiny boat be pirates!

In the theatre of the ridiculous, the Italian embassy says the fishermen tried to attack the vessel and therefore as per protocol, they were obliged to shoot.

Two fishermen, one each from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, in a fishing boat were on Wednesday shot dead by security officials of an Italian cargo vessel in the deep sea after being mistaken for pirates.

The MEA however says it was impossible for the Italian vessel to mistake two fishermen in small boat to be pirates and a threat. To which the Italian embassy says the vessel ascertained that the two men were armed.

The Kochi police which is handling the case says it is incorrect to say that the fishermen shot at the Italian vessel and in case they should not have shot to kill.

The MEA has summoned the Italian envoy in the issue.

13:06   SC to govt: Do you want to share Radia tapes with Tata?

The Supreme Court today sought response from the government on whether it could share the probe report on leakage of controversial Radia tapes with Tata
Group Chairman Ratan Tata.

A bench of justices G S Singhvi and S J Mukhopadhyay asked the Centre to file its response on Tata's plea, seeking a copy of the report on the probe, which pointed out tampering of the tapes released to the media.

The court granted three weeks time to the government to file its reply and posted the matter for further hearing on March 27.

Earlier, the government had expressed reluctance in sharing the report on the ground that the investigation was still in progress to find out how the tapes of Radia's conversations, tapped by Income Tax Department, got leaked.

The Centre had filed the report in a sealed envelop before the bench on January 31.

12:58   Did you make calls to Iran, Pak, Lebanon on Monday?

Update on the Israeli car blast.

Investigators are scanning international calls made to Iran, Pakistan and middle-eastern countries around the time of the attack on Israeli diplomat's car in Delhi on Monday even as they carried out overnight raids to trace the motorcyclist who stuck the magnetic bomb.

A senior police official said they were specifically looking into a few calls made to Iran, Lebanon and Pakistan from the Khan Market area where Tal Yehoshua-Koren, the Israeli diplomat, had lunch with her husband, before she was attacked.

However, the sources said, theywere yet to link these calls with the attack.

Overnight raids and intensive search for a motorcyclist who carried out a car bomb attack on an Israeli diplomat have yielded very little so far. Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta said investigations have gathered pace but were still in the initial stages.

Cancer-stricken Yuvraj Singh greeted the world with an uplifting tweet this morning.

"Got very good news from Dr Lawrence today. My tumour is almost out of my system. 2nd cycle of chemotherapy underway."

Yuvraj is being treated by Dr Lawrence Einhorn, a US-based cancer expert who has treated Lance Armstrong, seven times winner of the Tour de France, when the former American pro road-racing cyclist had been diagnosed with stage three testicular cancer (Embryonal carcinoma) on October 2, 1996.

Last week the ace all-rounder, named man of the tournament after India's World Cup win in April last year, said he had been drawing inspiration from Armstrong, who overcame testicular cancer to win the Tour de France seven times.

A photo of the message, posted on Yuvraj's twitter account, read: "Yuvi, I want you to know that the entire LIVESTRONG team is here for you. "We say it all the time, and truly believe in it: Knowledge is power, Unity is strength, and Attitude is everything. Please know that we are here to help you and your family in any way possible. Go Yuvi!! Livestrong."

In return, Yuvraj tweeted: "Message from @lancearmstrong makes me feel better! Thank you lance means a lot hope we can meet," tweeted Yuvraj, who is undergoing chemotherapy in the United Statesfor a malignant tumour located between his lungs.

10:47   Tchah! Iran's nuke announcement unimpressive: US

In world news.

The United States has said it was not impressed at all by the latest Iranian claim of progress on its nuclear programme, saying the "hyped" move was calibrated mostly for the domestic audience. "One thing is absolutely clear, Iran is clearly feeling the pressure of its international and diplomatic isolation of the increasing economic pressure on it," State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad yesterday unveiled on state television what was described as Iran's first domestically produced, 20-per cent enriched nuclear fuel for Tehran's research reactor.

"With regard to this news about activity at that reactor, we frankly dont see a lot new here. This is not big news. In fact, it seems to have been hyped. The Iranians have, for many months, been putting out calendars of accomplishments, and based on their own calendars, they are many, many months behind. This strikes us as calibrated mostly for a domestic audience," Nuland said.
