'7.8 magnitude earthquake' rumbles in Delhi

Delhi is rehearsing a massive emergency drill today to check its preparedness if a big earthquake should strike, reports NDTV. 

At 11.30 am, the capital assumed that for 48 seconds, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude was rumbling through.

50,000 volunteers will stage rescue operations at colleges, malls, hospitals and metro stations. 

Traffic is likely to be affected between 11.30 am and 2 pm. Some metro stations like Khan Market and Karkardooma will be shut down for half an hour.Government officials said they will test the response of concerned officials and residents "a number of simulated situations like collapse of flyovers, crack in metro pillars, and damage to hospitals.
