SC raps govt on ex-CJI disproportionate assets case

Just in: The Supreme Court of India has asked the government to explain what action has been taken in the disproportion assets case of former CJI KG Balakrishanan.

The Home Ministry ha received a petition last year alleging that Balakrishnan, who was also the chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and some of these properties were purchased in the name of his close relatives.
