2G case: SC to hear Essar plea on Feb 17

The Essar Group has approached the Supreme Court against its trial before the Special CBI Court in the 2G case.Essar pleads before SC that the trial be conducted before a magistrate as the company and its officials are not charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The CBI has withdrawn its application from the SC seeking clarifications over proceedings against the Essar Group from SC. Essar's plea will now be heard on February 17.
