December 26, 2012  14:11
Union finance minister P Chidambaram's press conference on the Cabinet briefing. On the Delhi gang-rape case, Chidambaram says the government is "Open to suggestions on what more needs to be done to bring about a more safety and make the capital secure for women." He promises that the perpetrators will be brought to justice soon and the government would 'try' and find out lapses in the system that led to the gang-rape. He also said this was not the time to sack Delhi police commissioner Neeraj Kumar. It may be recalled that CM Sheela Dikshit wants Kumar sacked.

Meanwhile, the transport ministry has said the number of night buses will be increased and a home guard will be present in every bus.
