Delhi gang-rape case to be heard on January 9

Just in: The Delhi High Court will hear the gang-rape case on January 9. The Delhi police have submitted a report to the court on the case, but the court says it is not satisfied with the details.

The high court on Wednesday cleared the state government's proposal to set up five fast-track trial courts for speedy trial in rape cases, even as it made it clear that it would continuously monitor the gang-rape case and gave the police two days (Friday) to furnish a status report on the probe. Taking suo moto cognizance of the incident, the bench said it would clear the charge sheet to ensure police investigations are of a "high standard."
