December 20, 2012  09:25
Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhoomal says he is confident that the BJP will retain power in the state. Right now, Dhoomal is leading from the Hamirpur constituency.

Speaking to rediff.com, Dhoomal said that since the government has opened a good account during the last tenure by spending over Rs 8,000 crore on various welfare schemes, his party would retain power.

"We are way ahead of the Congress. The media has been giving all sorts of figures. At one stage, the BJP and the Congress were placed on par. Let us see what happens now," he said on phone from Shimla. -- Onkar Singh.

Leads so far. Congress: 19, BJP: 19.  49/68
