I have made a victory staircase from stones thrown at me: Modi

Lampooning the Congress for their grudging acknowledgement of the BJP's victory in Gujarat, Modi says, "The political pundits have no shame, absolutely no shame. I was listening to the pollsters on TV and they just do not want to accept that the party has won. If you add the vote of Gujarat and Himachal, we will still get more than the others [does not name the Congress].

"A party winning twice is a big thing. But this is a hat-trick victory. I feel sorry for them. They have tried everything to demean me. I have never made any accusations against anyone, but they have made false accusations constantly against me.

"But I am amazed that you have managed to look beyond and sniff out the truth. I bow before you (shashtang pranam to boot) When people throw stones at me, I can make a staircase out of it and I have scored a hat-trick," says Modi.

All through the speech, Modi has thanked only the electorate, not a single mention of the other winning BJP candidates or the party for that matter.
