Home minister reads out six-point plan to curb rape

Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's statement in the Rajya Sabha.  
-- Immediate crackdown on all commercial vehicles, buses with tinted glasses.
-- All commercial vehicles have to keep lights on all through the night.
-- Buses have to be parked with owner not with the driver of the bus
-- Verification of drivers, staff, autos will be conducted. Bus contractors who have unverified staff will have vehicles impounded.
-- Driver's name, photo, shall be displayed prominently.
-- More GPS enabled PCR vans to be deployed.

BJP's Venkaiah Naidu asks why the government is silent on demand that rapists be given the death penalty. Shinde replies there is a provision in the IPC to give life imprisonment to rapists, which has been done earlier. Shinde remains silent on the death penalty, which was first demanded by the BJP's Sushma Swaraj.
