Maharashtra to recruit 63,000 policemen in 5 years

Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil today assured the assembly that the state government was committed to strengthening the police force and said about 63,000 policemen would be recruited in the next five years. 

Replying to a question from Sanjay Raimulkar (Shiv Sena) and others on the police raid on Caramel Lounge of a beer bar in Sadar area of Nagpur city on August 19 this year, Patil said there was shortage of police personnel and the state government was making efforts to fill up the vacancies. He said the government had recruited about 55,000 policemen in the past and five new police stations have been proposed for Nagpur.
