Land Acquisition Bill cleared by Union Cabinet

The Union Cabinet approved the Land Acquisition Bill which was brought for consideration at its meeting today.

The bill was finalised last week by the Rural Development Ministry incorporating the suggestion of United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi who had asked the government to take consent from 80 per cent land owners for purchase of land for the purpose of setting up industries and PPP projects.
