Rediff.com's Ganesh Nadar reporting from Idinthakarai village near Kudankulam says the protestors are getting ready for a pitched battle with the police. Earlier, the Anti-Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project Struggle Committee convener S.P. Udayakumar escaped in a fishing boat.
The Nuclear Energy Generation and Protection Committee in September had demanded the arrest the anti-nuclear activist and urged the government to implement the High Court order to commission units I and II of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) in Tirunelveli.
Ganesh Nadar reports that the church bells are ringing to get the villagers to assemble and chart out the next course of action.
