Secrecy surrounding Kasabs execution raises basic questions

New Indian Express reports: One morning a few weeks ago, the nation suddenly learnt that Ajmal Amir Kasab of 26/11 infame had been hanged. It was known earlier that his mercy petition against the final Supreme Court verdict was pending consideration of the President.

Apparently, President Pranab Mukherjee had rejected Kasab's plea, and the process was set in motion in great secrecy, culminating in the execution'"the nation knew of these developments only after the event.
