Reactions after the Rajya Sabha voted for FDI. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath urged the BJP to accept its defeat, and said that the people of the country have now understood that the main opposition party is politicising the FDI issue.

"The BJP always makes these allegations and I would wish that they were better losers. They lost in the Lok Sabha they made the allegations, they lost in the Rajya Sabha and they are making these allegations," he said, when asked whether the FDI votes were bought.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader M. Venkaiah Naidu on his part expressed disappointment with the UPA's victory in the Rajya Sabha, saying the ruling government would get a fitting reply from the people of the country.  "We might have lost in numbers because of the manipulation of the ruling party. But it's a moral victory. If you go by the speeches made in the house by different parties, overwhelming majority members of the Rajya Sabha has opposed the FDI in retail."
