Sena to BMC: Demolish other illegal structures first

Mumbai Mayor Sunil Prabhu today said that the "sanctity" of the site (where Bal Thackeray was cremated) should be maintained. "If the municipal commissioner says that it (site where Bal Thackeray was cremated) is unauthorised, then there are several illegal structures in the city," Prabhu said.
Several people visit the site and pay homage there, he said adding that the issue would be discussed with senior party leaders also. "We will also take up the issue at an appropriate level in the state government," the Sena leader, who has been served notice by the civic body to remove makeshift memorial at Shivaji Park, said.
However, Prabhu did not comment when asked about the prospect of his disqualification as a corporator for supporting unauthorised structure.
